The DDoptics Nighteagle Ergo 8x56 Generation 4 hunting binoculars have been systematically refined – not reinvented, but improved in all the right places. The optics have been completely modernised: new coatings, a redesigned prism with reduced light loss and the tried-and-tested low-dispersion ED glass work together to ensure that the image at twilight appears brighter, with higher contrast and more colour-neutral than with the previous model. Straight lines remain stable even at the edges – these hunting binoculars deliver what night hunters need: a true-to-life, natural image without distracting colour fringing.

The housing, made from easy-care polycarbonate with rubber armouring, sits securely and comfortably in the hand, rests steadily on the ‘ hunting’ and can even withstand a wet autumn morning. The interpupillary distance can be adjusted between 61 and 75 mm; thanks to the 18.2 mm eye relief, those who wear spectacles can view the image without restriction. The metal TwistUp eyecups offer a noticeable improvement in durability compared to plastic alternatives.

The Smart Focus feature makes use in the dark considerably easier: once focused at around 100 m, everything from 50 m to infinity is in focus – no more fumbling at the eyepiece when the herd moves in the twilight. The tactile line marking on the focus wheel, already familiar from the larger Pirschler Gen. 3, allows you to reliably return to the focus range even without a light.

The new Quick-Snap system solves a classic problem encountered in the field: the protective caps can be attached directly to the body, meaning they’re within easy reach every time you ‘ hunting’ – with no risk of losing them and no need to rummage through your rucksack.

Weighing 960 g, with a twilight factor of 21.16 and a light intensity of 49, the Nighteagle Ergo 8x56 Gen. 4 is a serious piece of kit for driven hunt, hunting and blood trailing – at a price well below that of binoculars with comparable performance.
